Enhanced Combat System Installation - J.Yeager

James Yeager installs a new mil-spec buffer tube and stock on an AR-15.

Definitely get a vise if you are going to do any serious work on your rifles. I've done work without one. Not recommended!

Vanilla Pudding Glock

Ok....I thought about doing some stupid tests like this awhile back.

I mean how many times can you watch the "shoot thru bricks" or "shoot thru milk jugs" or "will the gun shoot when its wet?" videos.

Thank f**king god I didn't do them! Let someone else deal with cleaning up THEIR gun!

Anyway, entertaining video. I think a Glock would work better if covered in chocolate pudding though.

MrColionNoir goes Full Auto

A cool short video of a suppressed and un-suppressed AR.

Looks like a side charging AR-15 which appears to reduce the powder "blowback" to the shooters face. Looks like so much fun.

Travis Haley talks about the 300 BLK cartridge and its advantages.

I would personally love to have a 300 BLK rifle once the pricing on ammo comes down, if it ever comes down.

David Petraeus Affair a Threat to National Security?

Is an affair really a threat to national security? If so why was President Clinton allowed to remain in office?

Why such a scandal over this issue? Is the media trying to take our attention away from the election results? How is an affair a threat to national security?

Glocks are Reliable? Can You Prove It?

Firearm enthusiast Destinee talks about the importance of reliability when making a gun purchase.

(From Destinee) - "I am curious as to how you determine a firearm's reliability prior to purchase. For example, if a certain volume of law enforcement or military personnel rely on a particular gun, does that become a standard of reliability for that firearm? Or, perhaps, are there statistics that you like to track -- for example, failures per 1,000 rounds, or per 10,000 rounds? I've spoken with some shooters who develop preferences for certain manufacturers who trust the reliability established by the "track record" of the company's various firearms. That leads me to question how they would evaluate the reliability of new guns that by their definition do not have a recorded history of performance."

I personally went with Glock as my choice for their simplicity and because of the early 90's research where they shot 100,000 rounds thru a Glock 17 and the gun still ran!

I picked up a factory refurbished Gen 1 Glock 17 in 1998. After some research I found out the gun is over 20 years old. It has been thru several handgun courses and easily (I am being very conservative) 15,000 rounds of 9mm by me personally. Prior to my ownership it could have been a safe queen or a competition pistol, who knows? It has proven to me its reliability based on MY use of it.

Now on the other hand I had a Glock 36 in .45ACP which wasn't as reliable. I say this because the dual recoil spring broke before putting 1,000 rounds thru it. Maybe I just had a lemon? After replacement the gun ran fine and never gave me any trouble. In my mind however, the gun wasn't as reliable as my Glock 17.

So definitely do some research on a firearm before purchasing. The best measure of perceived reliability will always be your experience with the firearm in question.

My Gen 1 Glock 17 workhorse.

Guns and Ammo Prices Skyrocket

Obama is president again. Sigh. Here comes the price gouging again.

You know, the longer I have been involved in firearms the longer I say "I remember when a box of 9mm was only $4.00, or $8.00 or whatever the lowest price was at the time. Things WERE always cheaper and shooting 500 rounds a session was the norm. Now shooting 100 rounds makes me feel that regret in the pit of my stomach.

Oh well, "I remember when...."
