Glock 17 Field Strip in 4.14 Seconds

I was bored yesterday so I decided to try and beat the Glock field strip time on the Funker Tactical Reviews channel.

Here are my three best attempts of a timed Glock 17 field strip. My best so far was 4.14 seconds. I would like to get under 4 seconds. I am using a gen1 Glock 17 and a cheap mobile phone stopwatch to time it.

Can you go faster than this?

Army Bans Magpul PMAGs

Is this a financial or performance based decision?

Everything I've ever read regarding PMAGs has been overwhelmingly positive. Not just civilian opinions but from deployed servicemen as well.

The Army has ordered that soldiers may use only government-issued magazines with their M4 carbines, a move that effectively bans one of the most dependable and widely used commercial-made magazines on today’s battlefield.

Despite the success of the PMAG, Army officials from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command issued a “safety of use message” in April that placed it, and all other polymer magazines, on an unauthorized list.

The message did not single out PMAGs, but instead authorizes only the use of Army-issued aluminum magazines. The message offers little explanation for the new policy except to state that “Units are only authorized to use the Army-authorized magazines listed in the technical manuals.” Nor does it say what Army units should now do with the millions of dollars’ worth of PMAGs they’ve purchased over the years.

Militay.com asked TACOM officials if the Army had discovered any problems with PMAGs that would warrant the ban on their use. TACOM officials would not answer the question and instead passed it off to Program Executive Office Soldier on Thursday evening before the four-day Memorial Day weekend.

TACOM’s message authorizes soldiers to use the Army’s improved magazine, which PEO Soldier developed after the M4 finished last against three other carbines in a 2007 reliability test. The “dust test” revealed that 27 percent of the M4’s stoppages were magazine related.

The improved magazine uses a redesigned “follower,” the part that sits on the magazine’s internal spring and feeds the rounds into the M4’s upper receiver. The new tan-colored follower features an extended rear leg and modified bullet protrusion for improved round stacking and orientation. The self-leveling/anti-tilt follower reduces the risk of magazine-related stoppages by more than 50 percent compared to the older magazine variants, PEO Soldier officials maintain. Soldiers are also authorized to use Army magazines with the older, green follower until they are all replaced, the message states.

Weigh in on this topic below. Leave a comment.

Beretta 92FS

Welcome to 1987!

That's right, a review of the famous Beretta 92FS as seen in the hit movies "Lethal Weapon" and "Die Hard". Those two movies must have sold more Berettas than any other form of marketing.

Did you buy one of these because you saw it in a movie?

.500 Magnum is for Girls!

"You shoot like a girl" now has a whole new meaning.

The Smith and Wesson 500 is the most powerful handgun in the world. I know several men who died from shock by just watching this video. They never even got to shoot a .44 magnum, never mind a .500. So sad. Thumbs up Destinee.

Video Game High School

Freddie Wong's new project looks well polished. It has gunfights. Enough said.

It kinda reminded me of the movie "Gamer" but with kids instead of convicts. The "Pwn Zone" skit is hilarious. That could be a successful gaming channel on its own.

So what do you think?

Watch more episodes here. Now with more pixelation kills!

Ghost Recon Alpha

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Alpha - This movie is the prequel story of the videogame "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier."

I would love to see this as a full length movie. The Ghost Recon universe has enough history and technology in it to make a very interesting movie. Well, unless Uwe Bolle directs it. Then it would be like watching softcore porn. Pointless.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Alpha the movie invites you into the future of war with the US Armed Forces point of the spear. Inserted deep behind enemy lines, the Ghosts must strike swiftly to eliminate one of the world's most feared war criminals, and vanish as they came.

You Know You're a Gun Net When....

Wow, I found myself saying "that's me" for most of these.

Yes it was a great day when the Federal Assault Weapons Ban expired on September 13, 2004, as part of the law's sunset provision. 17 round Glock magazines went from $100.00 at gun shows to $20.00. Epic moment for sure.

Battlefield Vegas

On July 15th a new shooting range will open in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, this isn't your typical range.

Battlefield Vegas has an inventory of over 150 machineguns used throughout the years for training purposes including training Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine personnel as well as police and sheriff departments throughout the Southwest and California. Military personnel at Ft Polk Joint Readiness Training Center get hands-on training with these very weapon systems prior to deployment overseas.

Some weapon systems HAVE TO BE FIRED OUTDOORS so Battlefield Vegas arranged private land for customers who want a more in depth experience. The outside excursion will include a ride in the back of a M35A2 (Cargo truck also nicknamed "duece and a half") that will be escorted by a HMWWV (Humvee) gun truck. The outdoor excursion can be as simple shooting bigger (M2HB - a belt fed machine gun, Barrett M107 - a .50 caliber sniper rifle or a M203 - grenade launcher) guns for a lasting experience or skirmishes with our OPFOR (Military unit tasked with representing an enemy, usually for training purposes in war game scenarios) along a huge canyon/wash.

The property is 5.25 acres in size and will be adding an Airsoft combat field in the future. Customers will be outfitted with various Airsoft guns and uniforms (British, American, German, etc.) and fight against an OPFOR who, for the most part, are all combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Over 80% of the employees have served overseas in the Global War On Terror and more than 90% are prior service.

A shoot house is currently being planned for Phase II of the development.

Pricing and packages posted soon at the Battlefield Vegas website.

Thanks to Ron for the intel.

Lethal Primary and Secondary Draws

Reminds me of the technique they teach at Front Sight.
The only real difference I saw was re-holstering while wearing an outer shirt. The technique is a little different but I like the "pinky finger method." Make that little digit feel useful I say.

352 Yard Shooting with a Glock 10mm

Real or Fake?

The world of logic doesn't always go hand in hand with the internet. Everything is a conspiracy or faked. Perfect example, I had a video where I shot an SKS loaded with a blank at a target. All of a sudden, the internet "EXPERTS" chimed in. Some of the comments were:

"That's a BB gun"
"That's an AK!"
"The bolt didn't even move, fake!"
"Look, no muzzle flash!"
"Fake rifle"
"Airsoft gun"

So even when you tell people exactly what is happening, you'll get the "EXPERTS" who know everything without a shadow of a doubt.

So is this video real? It might be. Just because a bird moved in the bushes doesn't mean its a huge conspiracy. I say its a plausible shot. Try it yourself, you may just get lucky and hit the target. Too bad no one on the internet will believe you.

Daniel Defense Torture Test

Shoot it. Blow it up. Run it over. Shoot a shotgun at it. Throw it out of a helicopter. The rifle still functions.

Good idea testing the rifle with an Aimpoint red dot to see how the whole system holds up. According to the Daniel Defense Youtube page: "We take the Torture Test Rifle to many of our trade shows for display. In fact, we'll have it on display at the NRA Show in St. Louis."

Looks like they stand behind their product. Nice to see nowadays.

Glock World of Perfection

Simple. Elegant. Nice Commercial. Where is the Glock 18 though?

Don't try and read the text animations before they complete or you'll likely see words like "fluffy" and "hugs" and wonder; how does that go with a Glock pistol?

KSG 10" Shorty Shotgun

A pump action shotgun with a 10" barrel? I have to wonder how punishing this is to shoot.

From Cheaper Than Dirt (CTD) -

"Not everyone feels the need for fifteen shot capacity of the KSG bullpup shotgun. Some people however want shorter length for the tight confines of police cruisers and other vehicles. Enter the super-shorties from Keltec."

The KSC shorty holds 10-shots and features a 10-inch barrel. "These are available with a $200 tax stamp."

Keltec makes a little over a thousand KSGs every month and new orders are coming in faster than that. So the backlog is going to be rather high. (Also the wait on NFA items is about 7 months right now.)

So True. So True.

Trayvon Martin Range Targets?

There are two sides to every story. Obviously the guy selling the targets supports Zimmerman. Remember one thing: Controversy sells.

An unidentified supporter of George Zimmerman sold gun range targets online featuring a figure meant to resemble slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin carrying Skittles, CBS affiliate WKMG reports.

The station reports that in an advertisement for the targets, which has since been removed, the sellers say they "support Zimmerman and believe he is innocent and that he shot a thug."

According to WKMG, the seller of the targets told them in an email exchange that the "main motivation was to make money off the controversy."

The seller reportedly said in an email that he sold out of the targets in two days.

TSA Find Gun Parts in Stuffed Animals

Wait. X-ray machines can see thru teddy bears? Damn.

A Transportation Security Administration officer discovered something more than just three stuffed animals inside a carry-on bag going through the conveyor belt of a Rhode Island airport X-ray checkpoint Monday.

Hidden inside each of the three toy animals were ammunition parts that when put together become a handgun (like a transformer!), said the TSA.

A TSA official at the T.F. Green International Airport in Providence noticed the concealed parts in the bag belonging to a 4-year-old who was with his father en route to Detroit.

According to the TSA, its officers alerted the airport's police, which found the main frame of a .40 caliber firearm in one animal, a firing pin and a magazine carrying two .40 caliber rounds (2 rounds, dude at least bring 10!) in another animal, and a slide concealed in the third animal.

Nice try, next time you should understand how metal detectors work.

Touch Screen Not Bulletproof Screen

This guy must light cigars with 100 dollar bills.

It's no surprise that the ipad loses, but it sure is fun to watch! I want to get an old beater car to shoot up in the desert. It only needs to make it 30 miles or so and then it can break down for all I care. Then bring a bunch of people out there with rifles, fire up the video camera and have a good time!

What would you like to see get shot up by a rifle?

Angry Ted Nugent is Angry

Ted Nugent seems a little pissed about being called a "moderate" and "political correctness" gone amok.

The rocker, hunter and political activist sat down with Jeff Glor in his first on-camera appearance since being interviewed by the Secret Service for comments about President Barack Obama made during recent a National Rifle Association meeting in St. Louis.

The cordial interview from Nugent's Texas ranch took a bizarre turn when Glor hinted that for Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney to win he'll need support from moderates. Nugent said he was not moderate and ...

"Call me," Nugent continued in a raised, irritated voice, "when you meet someone who does that more than I do. Because that's really moderate. In fact, you know what that is? That's extreme. ... I'm an extremely loving, passionate man, and people who investigate me honestly, without the baggage of political correctness, ascertain the conclusion that I'm a damned nice guy. ... And if you can find a screening process more powerful than that, I'll [expletive]. Or [expletive]. How's that sound?"

In all fairness, he had a kidney stone removed right after the interview. They pretty much cause more pain than anything else on earth.

Read more here. Now with more "AARRRRGGGGGHH!!"

The 150 year-old house scheduled for demolition in Kasota, Minnesota meets its end in an unusual way. A 1960s British military tank was driven through it.

Woman Brings Claymores Onto a Plane

Hell you can't even bring nail clippers on a plane! You know how many planes have been hijacked with nail clippers? Gosh, it must be at least ZERO. Clippers not allowed, Claymores are ok.

TSA agents at Newark International Airport in New Jersey stopped an employee of the Army’s Picatinny Arsenal with two inert Claymores in her carry-on baggage but they failed to detect a third mine that was being loaded into the plane’s hold inside her checked bags.

I once brought a loaded .45 magazine in a backpack thru the airport by accident. Whoops. That backpack had a TON of pockets. Nothing really happened other than the agent being pissed that I "inconvenienced" him.

Thanks to Defense Tech for the intel.

Missionaries Need Playstations

I had to take a break from the usual firearm news to share this personal story with you.

I am selling my Playstation 3 on Scammer Central Craigslist. The other morning I received 2 text messages from different people around 3:00 AM in the morning asking about the PS3. The following is what was said verbatim. I will add some remarks which will be in blue. Remember both of these people are communicating with me at the same time, but for clarification I will separate the two conversations for easy reading.

We'll name the people Too Early and Mrs Goldbelg.

Too Early: what is your best offer? what is your best offer?Playstation 3 - 80gb with 9 games. - $200 (NW)

Me: We just lowered it from 250 so 200 is the best.thanks

Too Early: thanks for your swift response,Am highly interested in purchase this item from you am a eBay buyer i just have some problem with my eBay account plus am purchasing this item for my fiance who had to finish is missionary course in West Africa as a gift. ( Are you fucking kidding me? Does Africa even have the internet? ) i will offer you $400 for the item including the shipping cost I'll be paying you with with Paypal ( Hell no, scam alert! ) so if you are interested to sell for me get back.

Me: How about this, ill sell it to you face to face for 200 otherwise that paypal story is a really bad scam. ( what a scamming douchebag! )

Too Early: i know your worries and that is why i have choose to deal with the bank or paypal. if there is anything phishy, the bank or paypal can trace anyone and get hold of the person. that's why am going to pay you via PayPal or bank. I have also been scammed and i was a victim. ( aww you were scammed too i cry for you.) i will be glad if you can help me and post the item

Me: No thanks i have a local buyer. ( My way of saying "shut the fuck up we are done here." )

Here is the second guy trying to buy from scam me.

Mrs Goldbelg: Playstation 3 - 80gb with 9 games - $200 (NW)nice stuff.. do you still have them?? and what your final price?

Me: Still have it. Lowest i can do is 190

Mrs Goldbelg: okay do you still have the box?? charger? and how long have it been used?? Mrsgoldbelg

Me: I may have the box i would need to check. I have the cable to charge the controllers and its 2 years old

Mrs Goldbelg: okay sounds good am local as you can see my number is from California ( Yea cause I know all the area codes in the USA by heart dickhead ) but i made i little travel okay right now i want it here were i am can you send it to me if i pay you $200 and add 70 for the posting ?? Mrsgoldbelg

Me: You are in california right now?

Mrs Goldbelg: my current location is Africa were i have a poultry farm business, ( REALLY? AFRICA! YOU DON"T SAY! ) i came here to inspect it and will not be back until two month time.... so kindly get the shipping cost and summerize it with the item amount so i can get the money to you paid to you... thanks Mrsgoldbelg

Me: Sorry, i only do face to face.

Mrs Goldbelg: oops.... I understand what you are avoiding, but you don't have anything to fear about course am a genuine buyer and i have been buying things on Craigslist for years now and i hard i perfect record with seller's ... am going to make payment upfront and you will get an instant alert ( ooooh an instant alert! What the fuck are you talking about? ) to verify my payment then you can get the item mailed out to my address please i really need's these from you

At this point I turned the phone off. Two scammers both wanting a Playstation sent to Africa? Is there a room with these people just going thru all the Craigslist ads and hoping some sucker will fall into their bullshit? Why not get original and say New Zealand or Germany or something.

Next time fellas, don't start so early in the morning, spell check and watch your grammar for more effectiveness.

In the meantime, I will update my ad and specify that African Chicken Farmers will get a special bonus item from my dogs. Hint: they leave it in the backyard.
